Today it is Wednesday, let me tell you about a special weekly ritual I have.
One of my close friends recently convinced our fairly large group to try something called “Wednesday Waffles” - Essentially, every wednesday, we record a 3-5 minute update on our lives, what we did, what we’re excited or nervous about, how we’re feeling. There’s absolutely no structure, no expectation, just good vibes.
For those of us in the software world it’s basically a weekly SCRUM meeting but with friends, and nobody asking for updates or blockers. I have always found myself not really updating my social media on how my life is actually going, and if I saw my friends once every 3 months, it’s hard to just throw 90 days worth of personal life updates into a conversation without coming off like a fart-huffing narcissist (y’know, even more than writing a blog already does)
I HIGHLY recommend it as a way of keeping connected with your friends, especially those living in other cities/countries.
Not only that, but it can be quite entertaining to go back and look at older videos of yourself and others to remind you of progress, and how your month/year has gone, ups and downs etc. And the best part is that it can be done without any social media - Just a camera and a messaging platform that supports video (or even audio)
